Joplin, Missouri, is a town in the southwestern corner of the state, made famous by the disastrous EF5-rated, multiple-vortex tornado that destroyed the community in 2011. Since then, the community has rebuilt and has become a place full of thriving neighborhoods, parks, and conservatories. If you’re visiting Joplin, make sure to check out our Joplin, Missouri location of AmeriCash Loans, as well as these fun and relaxing activities.

Grand Falls
Grand Falls in Joplin, Missouri, has become one of the most scenic destinations in the Ozarks. It’s the largest, continuously flowing natural waterfall in Missouri.  Its rushing water plunges 12 feet into jagged rocks before moving peacefully on. The waterfall is 163 feet wide and its ledge is made of solid chert. Parking is limited and there are no facilities, but it’s free to see and enjoy the falls for as long as you want.

The Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center
The Wildcat Glades Conservation and Audubon Center opened in 2007 with the mission of appreciating, conserving, and understanding the natural world around us. The center prides itself on its educational programs and its rare Chert Glades – one of the world’s most special and least found habitats. Visiting the center is free, and gives you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the rarest ecosystem in the world.

Cunningham Park
If you want to get out in nature while you’re visiting Joplin, Missouri, Cunningham Park is the perfect place for you. The large park is home to trails, playgrounds, covered picnic areas, basketball courts, an aquatic center, a butterfly memorial, and a memorial to the victims of the 2011 tornado. Whether you’re an athlete, a nature maven, a history buff, or you’re just trying to cool off in that summer heat, Cunningham Park has something for you.

Joplin 44 Truck Stop
The Joplin 44 Truck Stop has become a favorite subject of local lore and a beloved local landmark to the people of Joplin, Missouri. Bill moon and his wife dreamed of opening a truck stop in the 1960s, and spent nearly 30 years saving money and purchasing land. On October 12, 1987, the Joplin 44 opened for the first time. It featured a convenience store, trucker store, fuel center, full service restaurant, gas islands, a lube center, and 350 concrete truck parking spots.
